All classes are geared toward the dance student who is serious about improving his or her technique and broadening their dance experience. Emphasis is on performing at a more professional level. Professional guest artists from around the country bring a fresh perspective to the camp.
Daily Class Schedule
Regular classes will be held in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip-hop, character, musical theatre, and more. Several spotlight classes will be held introducing students to other aspects of dance.

2010 Instructors
Marie Robertson (Director/Co-Owner)
Graduated Stephens College - BFA in Dance. Member of Stephens faculty for over 8 years. Toured with 'Mid-America' and 'Harriot Ann Gray' Dance companies. Teaches primarily jazz and tap at Dancearts and choreographs award wnning numbers for the competition team. Her incredible tap teaching skills have earned her the title of the "Tap Queen".
Maggie Dethrow (Co-Owner)
Graduated Stephens College - BFA in Dance. Has taught modern in the Stephens Dance Department for over 15 years, as well as teaching/choreographing for Stephens Theatre Institute. She teaches all the modern classes at Dancearts and has proven herself to be an 'accomplished choreographer' for the studio and competition team.
Marisa Robertson (Co-Owner) - Hip Hop, Jazz
Danced since age of 5 and competed 12 years with the competition team. Has taught various styles of dance at Dancearts for over 10 years. She was awarded a summer internship at Broadway Dance Center in NY and Performing Arts Center in LA. Marisa's been aknowledged for her innovative and polished choreography, as well as her teaching ability.
Kristina Schaefer - Jazz
Began dancing at the age of 6 at Ibsen Dance Theatre in Kansas City. Began teaching various levels of Jazz, Hip Hop and Lyrical at Dancearts in 2001. She has choreographed for Dancearts competition team and is head coach for the Hickman Dance Team in Columbia, MO. She's been the jazz director at Dancer's Alley in Jefferson City since 2005.
Kathryn Clark - Tap
A junior at Mizzou, has been dancing since she was 4. She trained at the Dance Workshop in Arlington, TX and assisted, as well as performed with, the faculty of Tremaine Dance Conventions for two years. She has won various awards including Tremaine, JUMP and West Coast Dance Explosion scholarships, plus Hall of Fame V.I.P. dancer and a scholarship to Broadway Dance Center in New York City.
Becca Mette - Musical Theatre
She studied voice, acting and dance at Missouri State University, Stephens College, the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (NY), the University of Manchester (UK), and the University of Missouri, earning a BA degree in Theatre Performance in 2004. Becca has taught Musical Theatre at Dancearts since 2003. Becca's credits include local, university and prefessional productions, with lead roles in Parade, High Society, Dames at Sea and Cabaret. She is currently working toward a PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Missouri.
Special Guest Instructors
Kenneth Braso - Ballet
Danced professionally over 25 years. He was the featured dancer with Southern Ballet theatre, Pittsburgh Ballet theatre and Ballet Austin before joining Louisville Ballet as a principle dancer. For over fifteen years, Ken has entertained audiences by dancing roles such as the Russian Dance in Nutcracker, Peter Pan, Max in Where the Wild Things Are, Puck in A Midsummer Nights Dream, and Renefield in Alun Jones' Dracula. to name just a few. After retiring as principle dancer with the Louisville Ballet in 2002, Ken directed a newly formed dance school, connected to Champion Gymnastics, where he had taught, and continues to teach, dance to gymnastics. He has given many Lecture Demonstrations in his career, most recently with New Performing Arts. In late summer of 2004, Ken made his third appearance with the Derby Dinner Playhouse in their production Fiddler on the Roof. Other performing credits include Cincinnati Opera Dance Company, numerous regional theater work and Walt Disney World. Ken has been a guest faculty member for the Governor's School for the Arts. In 2003, Ken and his wife, Liz, choreographed for Liz Bussey Fentress' nationally prized play, Liz's Circus Story.
Andrij Cybyk - Ukrainian/Character Dance
Andrij is American by birth, Ukrainian by heritage and gypsy at heart. He began Ukrainian folk dancing at the age of four. Andrij has studied ballet at the Akron University Conservatory for Ballet and Character Dancing from the Unkrainian Dance Ensemble. While attending Duquesne University he was a member of the Tamburitzans, an Eastern European folk dance and music ensemble where he worked with the best folk artists and choreographers in the world. Teaches in NY, and tours nationally and internationally.
Natalia Ejova - Modern
Natalia is a professional dancer in NYC and a former Rhythmic Gymnast for Russia. She has performed with the Imperial Russian Ballet under Maya Plisetskaya and has studies with, and has been featured by, several notable artists. Natalia has performed with Momix and Complexions, and currently dances for the folk ensemble Barynya, works in Aerial Acrobatics and tours with the North American tour of Riverdance.
